Canal operations total over 50,000 linear feet. Canal operations used a range of vessels, as canals varied from 4 ft to 40 ft in width. We used screens and operational controls to limit down-stream drift of recovered materials, screens were checked and cleaned daily. KDF ran into numerous beaver populations that would rebuild their dams every night and so we coordinated with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission to ensure this was managed appropriately
